Vocabulary is a very important part of the English language as it helps us convey and express ourselves better. The wider your vocabulary the more effectively you can make your point. The other reasons why its important include:

  How do I help my child develop their vocabulary and writing skills for the eleven plus exams?

  • Use ‘Challenging’ vocabulary in conversation
  • Encourage a response
  • Learn a new word everyday
  • Keep a Jargon Journal
  • Record the new word
  • Put it in a sentence

  • Challenge your child’s reading
  • Encourage different genre
